Summer break

I wish you all a beautiful summer! The norwegian summer-holidays are in July, so I thought I`d take a break from blogging, have some vacation..!

By the way, I placed the lonely Owl in front of this abandoned house, perhaps he`ll like it there?

Owls are very interesting birds, don`t you think? I am very fascinated though I`ve rarely seen one with my own eyes. But I have heard them.

Just a feeling

 

I am so into the pencil drawing thing these days...I just love to explore the possibilities of what can be made with one single pencil, -and off course an eraser (very much needed), -and a drawing paper, -and a sharpener. Well, it`s perhaps wrong to say one pencil, in fact I use lots of them.

This drawing is of the white cat I allways wanted, he has got that just-a-feeling-look I think. Reproduction prints are available in my shop.

Another thing: I have recently submitted one of my illustrations to Pocketful Illustration Magazine. Pocketful is a new illustration magazine which will be issued four times a year and will be printed on demand. Their first theme is "Oh Dear! Oh Dear! I shall be late!" Check it out, there are some really inspiring illustrations there and more to come! Good luck with this project, Selin!

Just a quick update. I am on my way to fetch my son from kindergarden but wanted to show you my newest drawing...

My son laughed when I showed him this yesterday, -Look, the rabbit is hiding! I, in fact, intended to express a somewhat creepy and scary feeling through this picture but perhaps it`s just funny, someone playing? I guess you could look at it in so many ways.

I must rush, have a wonderful afternoon!

Small interior collages

  I have made two small interior collages as designs for postcards. They are now to be found in my shop!

I had so much fun making these.

Rooms...

I am working on some drawings with rooms and furnitures in them. This one has even a pair of shoes in them, looks like someone has left the scene in a hurry...I like those old, romantic furniture that are hidden inside imaginary rooms of an imaginary old house/ building. I have allways had dreams about rooms. (I mean in my sleep) In these dreams I find myself wandering around inside a house finding new rooms all the time. I wander up the stairs ( sometimes I find some hidden stairs behind walls or locked doors.), or down the stairs, to the basement. There are rooms to explore everywhere. Some of the rooms are large and filled with opportunities, others are scary and cold, filled with hidden secrets, things that make me afraid. I allways want to go further and further to find all these new rooms, even though it can be very frightening. (I am too curious by nature!) Mostly I enjoy my dreamly wanderings, though. It is a pleasant reminder to me that life has more to it than I sometimes think.

Illustrations for a magazine

I occacionally do some ilustrations for a magazine called Psykisk Helse (norwegian), that means "Psycic Health".

I am being asked to illustrate certain articles, these two was about cognitiv therapy (1st picture)and psycic health related to diet and overweight (2nd picture).

Sometimes I find it relly hard to find out how to illustrate, sometimes the idea also comes rather quickly...
